Coollab 2.0 🥳
For the past 10 months we have been preparing this completely redesigned and improved version of Coollab! The goal is to remove the limitations of the previous codebase to enable many new features that we (and maybe you!) have been wanting for years! This will make Coollab a much more versatile software than it is today!
Proper VJ setup

Inspired by Resolume, you will finally have a dedicated UI to group all your scenes and switch between them:
- 1 set of nodes (a v1 project as you know it) = 1 scene
- Create many scenes
- Switch between scenes, easy and performant!
- Tons of new transition effects
Groundwork for new effects

The internal engine has been redesigned to be much more generic, opening the door to whole new categories of effects beyond what was possible with the shader-only approach of v1.
- 3D meshes, point clouds, gaussian splats
- Fluid simulations
- An improved particle system
- Text
- A proper feedback node
- Generative AI (StreamDiffusion, MediaPipe, etc.)
- A timeline, allowing you to do "video editing", sequencing different scenes one after the other
You will not get all of these day one, but the infrastructure is here to add them easily over time! We are right now working on 3D Meshes and Text rendering!
More outputs

- You can now have multiple output windows, showing either the same or different scenes!
- Videomapping features: 4-point perspective mapping and masks
- Dome and 360° projections
- LED installations
- Run your project in a webpage
- Export your visuals to run in OBS, TouchDesigner, Resolume, Unity, etc.
Again, you will not get all of these day one, but we are laying the ground work for them!
What's next
Coollab 2.0 is not quite ready to be released yet, but we are working very hard on it! We have chosen to take our time to lay a sound technical foundation and build a high-quality software, rather than rushing to release it as fast as possible, and then having to pay the consequences of a buggy and clunky codebase forever.
We are aiming to release a first alpha version somewhere between September and December. In the meantime you can expect many more blog posts coming soon, showcasing the progress we have made so far, and covering some of the cool technical details!
